Gaja Maestri and Pierre Monforte will be at the conference of the ECPR Standing Group on the European Union at Science Po Paris on the 13-15 June 2018 to organise a panel on “Solidarities in times of ‘Crisis'” and present a paper on “Who Deserves Compassion? Volunteering and the Representation of Refugees and Migrants in the ‘Refugee Crisis'”.
Gaja Maestri will be discussing Calais Children, a film directed by Prof. Su Clayton (Goldsmith University). The screening of the movie and the discussion will take place at the Film Theatre at the University of Leicester, Monday 21 May, 6pm.
Pierre Monforte will be at the Maison Méditerranéenne des Sciences de l’Homme in Aix en Provence on the 11-12 December 2017 to present some first project findings. Information about the conference “Enquêter sur la Bienfaisance. Approches Comparatives des Pratiques du Bien” can be found here.
The first advisory board of the project is taking place at the University of Leicester on Thursday 7 September 2017. The research team will introduce the project and present ideas emerging from the fieldwork that is being conducted in the UK.
Pierre Monforte will be at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Florence on Friday 12 May 2017 to talk about “Hospitality and its limits: The origins and challenges of the Refugees Welcome movement”.
